What's up yall!
I've been asked about my skin regime a lot and now I feel the need to share! For some strange reason, many of you believe my skin is flawless and contrary to popular belief - it isn't. With the help of make-up and photo editing apps, my skin may appear flawless but I SWEAR it's not, sis. Sometimes you need a little assistant to stunt for the gram, you know?.
My skin type is actually combination which means my skin can be dry or normal in some areas and oily in others. (Not sure what type of skin you have? No problem, I listed skin types down below.) I suffered from acne as a high schooler and mild acne as an adult. I also battle with acne scarring which totally sucks.
Please take note that I'm NOT a skin care expert or a dermatologist so what works for me, may not work for you. These are simply some products I use in between facials and what not. If you're experiencing serious skin issues, I would recommend seeing your derm :)
This cleanser changed my life! It's a daily pore cleanser that purifies and detoxifies the skin. It also softens the skin and reduces the sizes of pores. I noticed that it also keeps my complexion super clear.
I've talked about this product a few times on my IG story. This 1 minute 1 step daily clarifying pad will make you believe in a higher skin god. This little ass pad is so powerful and it helps reduce the appearance of spots and blemishes by naturally cleansing and unblocking pores.
Shout out to the pretty African lady at Nordstorm who put me on to this serum! If you suffer from dark spots like me, then this will easily become your daily go-to. This serum brightens and clarifies skin for increased radiance. This is ideal for all skin types. Granted, this is not an inexpensive product but it's well worth the money.
I found this moisturizer at Sephora about 2 years ago, and I haven't use anything else. It's made for all skin types and doesn't leave a heavy, oil feeling after use. It hydrates, evens tone, smoothes skin texture, and helps improve the look of dark spots and discoloration.
WHAT'S YOUR SKIN TYPE, BAE?
NORMAL SKIN TYPE:
Not too dry and not too oily, normal skin has:
- No or few imperfections
- No severe sensitivity
- Barely visible pores
- A radiant complexion
COMBINATION SKIN TYPE (dis me):
Your skin can be dry or normal in some areas and oily in others, such as the T-zone (nose, forehead, and chin). Many people have this type. It may need slightly different care in different areas.
Combination skin can have:
- Pores that look larger than normal, because they’re more open
- Blackheads
- Shiny skin
DRY SKIN TYPE:
You may have:
- Almost invisible pores
- Dull, rough complexion
- Red patches
- Your skin is less elastic
- More visible lines
Your skin can crack, peel, or become itchy, irritated, or inflamed. If it’s very dry, it can become rough and scaly, especially on the backs of your hands, arms, and legs.
OILY SKIN TYPE:
You may have:
- Enlarged pores
- Dull or shiny, thick complexion
- Blackheads, pimples, or other blemishes
Oiliness can change depending upon the time of year or the weather.
SENSITIVE SKIN TYPE:
It can show up as:
- Redness
- Itching
- Burning
- Dryness
If your skin is sensitive, try to find out what your triggers are so you can avoid them. There are many possible reasons, but often it's in response to particular skin care products.
So there you have it, my daily skin regime. It changes with the seasons, but this is what I'm currently sticking to. If I find something skin changing, I'll most likely share.
